My parents made it a point to come in and see me at every restaurant in which I've ever served. That's eleven establishments, all over the place. That is support, people. That is commitment. I'm always grateful to look up and see them at the hostess stand. Sometimes I'll have no idea that they are coming in, and a co-worker will approach me and say, "Is that your DAD?" Yes. Put ice in the shaker because yes, it is.
I have a dirty secret that has been weighing on my mind for almost 20 years. Mom and Dad -- that time at the Limerick Diner, when your food took forever? I forgot to put in your ticket. I'm sorry. I hope we can all move forward now that the air is clear.
Happy Anniversary to the strongest couple I know. It's astounding -- and a little intimidating -- to have witnessed all that you've achieved with nothing more than love and hard work.
